All of these images portray a portraiture of someone representing them and their particular job or/and lifestyle.
Finlay Mackay
With Finlay Mackay's photographs, they seem to be a mid-shot of a person doing a particular sport. The moment in which is captured seems to have a slightly tense moment. - For the top image above, this guy could not be far from the finishing line, whereas the girl below, looks as if she is just about to start.
These sports could be their hobby or maybe their job. Either way these images express hard work and passion. - The top image by the guys position on the bike and by the position of the girl, with her trainer by her side. These images have quite a rich, colourful tonal range. They have quite a contrasting effect. Ranging from the clear, blue sky and shadows of the trees, to the glistening reflection of the water, to the dark outfits and floats dividing the pool into lanes.
Toby Glanville
Tony Glanville's images show a simple portrait of a person which seem to be either inside or outside of a building. This building b=could have a significance to their life. The top image looks quite plain and simple, but tidy. The background looks like a board for pinning things or even writing on. With the amount of shelves and the lady wearing quite a smart and practical outfit, I would say she is a teacher in her classroom. The tonal range to this image is quite neutral. - Not too light or too dark.
The image below looks as if the bloke is perhaps a milkman. The way the sun is glistening through the trees, shown by the shadows on the wall, this guy could be at the beginning or maybe even the end of his shift.
Ulrich Gebert
These photos above by Ulrich Gerbert, seem to be based on portraying someones job. The stern stare and the rigid stance, show dedication and regulations.
The primary colours seem to frame the guys face, enhancing the main focus to his face, central to the image.
The other image however, have quite neutral colours, whereas the rich, green uniform stands out.
All of these photos seem to represent a certain personal aspect to the person. The backgrounds are quite minimalistic, but support the persons reflected hobby or job, along with the outfits worn by these people.
Every image seems to have the person lit by natural light. - Either from them being outside or directional light from a window, with a mid-close shot frame, capturing the person and their passion.
